Greensgrow Farm in Philadelphia

Greensgrow Farm in Philadelphia

Philly (where I used to live) is a great city for guerilla gardening, home-grown city vegetables, and local foods. With Amish country nearby and a local passion for fresh produce, there are over 25 farmers’ markets around the city where men in wide-brimmed hats and women in bonnets sell baked goods and tubers next to organic farmers selling arugalas and artisinal cheeses. There are many empty plots of land converted to community gardens and protected by the Neighborhood Garden Association.  Some larger urban farms like Greensgrow as well that provide fresh food and gorgeous greenery. There’s even an urban farm bike tour that you can take in the summer to survey Philly’s bounty.
