Greening Hollywood – Vote Today!

June 30, 2009
Watch and Learn. And Vote.

Watch and Learn. And Vote.

When you think of green movies, I bet what comes to mind is An Inconvenient Truth, or maybe a Cheech and Chong classic. But Philadelphia filmmaker Jenny Deller has something else in mind – her feature-in-the-making, Future Weather, aims to be at the forefront of greening the filmmaking process.

According to her website,

One of our key aims in getting Future Weather in front of audiences is to raise awareness about global warming now. To do that, we feel we must endeavor to balance our desire to create an environmentally-friendly production with limited amounts of time and money. We decided that a realistic approach for us is to take as many green actions as our budget permits at all stages of the film’s production. The four main ways we can do this are to conserve energy, reduce emissions, renew materials, and choose local whenever possible. This green production experiment will lay the foundation for Green Behind-the-Scenes, a guide we will create for film and videomakers about how to make sustainable production choices.

Her film tells the story of a girl who is trying to find her place in the world, and is up for the Netflix Find Your Voice competition right now, in the number one spot! If she wins, Future Weather will get enough funding to wrap up and she gets mad financial and professional support from Netflix. There’s a week of voting left, however, so cast your vote to support green filmmaking today by watching the Future Weather trailer and giving it 5 stars.
