Where would we be without world-traveler and king of taxonomers Carl Linnaeus? Not at the Brooklyn Botanical Garden (Genus: Botanical Garden, Species: Brooklyn) this Thursday, sipping on Lillet (Genus: Aperitif, Species: My Favorite) cocktails. Botanists and Brooklynites will convene as the Linnaeus Libation League to celebrate Linnaeus’ birthday under the well-classified foliage of the Botanical Gardens. Don’t miss it!

If you’d rather be doing the classifying, Green Edge Collaborative is hosting Urban Foraging in Prospect Park on Sunday, where you’ll learn what plants to eat if you ever find yourself in a Night at the Museum type of experience in an urban park. Foraging guide Leda Meredith is like a modern-day Linnaeus, and word is, it sells out every time!

Brooklyn Flea-er Eric Denby starts a monthly called Treehouse at Littlefield, that classy yet unclassifiable new green spot in Gowanus. Haven’t been yet but it boasts recycled tires and bowling alleys, like the cycle-of-life answer to the Burg’s recent eco-addition Brooklyn Bowl.

This is tonight, so don’t sleep on it!
